Description

(53 pages)

This publication  includes:

– Table A and Table B. These two tables are used in Claude Maréchal’s teaching program for future yoga teachers. Table A contains the postures that are most frequently used. Table B includes postures that are harder and therefore less common in group classes. Table A contains 50 postures, which are organized into 11 groups; Table B has 77 postures, which are organized into 15 groups. Table A and B contain 10 postures in common, but presented from different perspectives. We present the Sanskrit name and its translation for each posture, and also a brief description of each group, including its nature and function.

– A study of vîrâsana, supta pâdângushthâsana, eka supta pâdângushthâsana and supta prasârita pâdângushthâsana; this includes a sequence of 216 breaths that can be divided in two sequences of 108 breaths each;

– A study of godhâpîtham, or Iguana Pose; here we present two sequences that can be combined in one sequence with 216 breaths. This chapter also explains the distribution of the five elements in the body, and suggests exercises to feel the presence of these elements.

– This publication ends with a short chapter with the names of all postures as they are spelled here, and their name transliterated from Devanagari.
